The Spanish thematic network on Open Data and Smart Cities started in December 2014, with the objective to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the area of open data and its application to smart cities, among research groups, technology centers, public administrations and private companies.
The network is led by Oscar Corcho from the Ontology Engineering Group (UPM). Other founding members of the network are the following: IAAA - Universidad de Zaragoza, GRIHO - Universitat de Lleida, MoreLab - Universidad de Deusto, ARC La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llul, Quercus - Universidad de Extremadura, Laboratorio de Bases de Datos - Universidade da Coruña, Khaos - Universidad de Málaga and Universitat Jaume I. The network will have funds during years 2015 and 2016, granted by the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad.
The participation in the network is open to any individual, research group, association, public administration or private company that is interested in the network activities.
